At the beginning of this semester, a new form of hall passes for Centaurus students was introduced: Minga. This replaced physical passes to solve the problem of students claiming to go to the bathroom and then leaving for long stretches of time. In addition to solving this problem completely, Minga has done so much more for the Centaurus community, and we can all agree that everyone loves it.
“Minga has improved my school experience so much,” one senior stated. “I love the fact that the administration can see when I go to the bathroom and for how long. I’m 18, but being constantly monitored makes me feel like a kid again!”
Additionally, there are numerous academic studies that prove limiting high school students’ bathroom breaks to only five minutes has a direct effect on how self-sufficient they will be when they’re adults. These studies also show that students get more applicable post-graduation experience from Minga than AP, IB, work, sports, and clubs combined.
“What I love most about Minga is that it’s yet another effective and well-loved solution to one of Centaurus’ serious problems that directly impacts the quality of learning,” a junior shared. “What we need more than clean bathrooms that have readily stocked paper towels, toilet paper, and sanitary supplies is to be tracked on how long we’re in there.”
Students unanimously agree that the school-wide solutions to Centaurus’ problems such as the phone ban, parking permit stickers, and Minga greatly improve the quality of learning for every student.
