Security just expelled an innocent Centaurus student for trying to buy chips from the vending machine with their phone. Reported sources say that the student is now held in custody for breaking the school rules and is awaiting questioning by the security and staff of Centaurus. However, this student did not leave without a fight—and many others have been protesting their chip-buying rights. The phone ban has truly gone too far this time.
Centaurus High School began second semester with a new goal: having a no-phone school. Administrators and staff quickly got to work, warning students about phone use in the building and asking them to put away their phones all around the school. In February, the complete ban on phones went into effect. This ban caused much controversy between students, staff, and administrators. Many students feel this ban is unfair, while many staff and admin see it as a positive.
Shortly after the February ban was put in place, a student went out during their off period to buy a snack at the vending machine. Not having their card on them, they opened their phone to pay for the chips. Administrators in the area quickly realized that a phone was being used. They took the phone from the student and brought them down to the office for questioning. After about an hour of waiting the student was questioned for why they had their phone on them in the first place, let alone why they brought it out to buy chips. Further information will be coming out when more is announced, but it has become apparent that the student was expelled from the school. It has been reported that the student will not be allowed on school grounds anytime in the future, for administration fears this event could influence others to begin to rebel against the ban.
Shortly after this, some local interviews in the school were conducted to grasp an idea of how the student body felt during these hard times. One student said, “I feel like this has gone too far. Now nobody can feel safe buying any of the salt and vinegar chips at the machines… and those were my favorite!” This was truly one of the worst things that has happened since the phone ban was put in effect. Another student added to this, “I can’t live without these chips. They’re the best part of school, and I don’t know what I’ll do without them.” Students are heartbroken by the effects of this expulsion.
In response to this, students across all grades have begun to stop using vending machines until this innocent student has been allowed to return to school. This incident poses the question if the phone ban has too much power over the students of Centaurus and if, this time, the phone ban might have gone too far.

I understand to a point but is this jail or school? No phone ban in the school as a parent I would be at that school so fast I would be banned. My son was bought a phone after Columbine he was a sophomore, shootings have only gotten worse. I can’t imagine having a child in school now and them being told no phone allowed in the building. Use it responsibly as this student was! Buying chips with your phone is now a reason to be expelled!!!! I pray this family lawyer ups !!! Shame on you CENTAURAUS HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST PRIORITY NOT POLICING THE VENDING MACHINE OR PHONES.
